Internet Marketer Trades Sister’s Phone Number for Food

This is just a quick post to show that there is also a lighter side to Internet Marketing.

Matt Garrett of Lazy Git Marketing fame attended the recent BritPack Internet Marketing seminar and managed to exchange his sister’s phone number for half a plate of sandwiches. Apparently he managed to do this without writing a long sales letter, organizing JV partners, or recruiting an army of affiliates.

You can read more here on Randolf Smith’s blog, scroll down to the bit that starts “By 4.45am there was just Matt and I left….”.

I’m sure his sister was glad to find out her privacy was worth a plate of sandwiches. I hope he at least shared them with her.

Have you noticed an increase in the number of comments since installed KeywordLuv? I’ve been considering using it on a blog I own and need some honest feedback.

Hello Tony. Yes I have definitely noticed an increase in the number of comments left, unfortunately the amount of spam has also increased dramatically. Most of them are caught by anti-spam plugins, but the occasional one slips through and needs to be manually deleted. For now, I am going to keep KeywordLuv running because I like to give genuine, useful commenters something in return for their time and attention.

I wanted to drop you a quick note to express my thanks. I’ve been reading through your blog for a few days or so and have picked up a ton of excellent information as well as enjoyed the way you’ve structured your site. I’m trying to run my own blog however I think its too general and I need to focus more on smaller topics. Being all things to all people is not all that its cracked up to be.

This was a funny read! Online marketers sure know how to adapt to different surroundings. On the subject of the KeywordLuv plugin, thanks for keeping it activated as a means to reward commenters. Some webmasters simply don’t understand that spammers will be an ongoing problem, regardless if you have nofollow on your links or not. There’s no reason to penalize others for the dumb decisions of a few.

If nothing else, this proves that Internet marketers are quick on their feet. Doesn’t seem to say much about the ethics of the Internet marketer however.

Just goes to show how sometimes the simplest method is the most effective! If only it was always that way though. Hope all of those sandwiches weren’t just for him..
